National boxer Waseem meets General Qamar Bajwa |

RAWALPINDI – World Boxing Council’s (WBC) Silver Flyweight Champion Muhammad Waseem on Friday met the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarter in Rawalpindi.

According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations, military media wing, the Army Chief praised boxer Muhammad Waseem for his outstanding achievements.

Gen. Bajwa also expressed his confidence that Pakistani youth will follow Waseem’s footsteps to bring good name to the country.

Waseem recently ended the year on the fifth position in the Flyweight category According to World Boxing Council‘s latest rankings. He achieved this feat after just five bouts he fought last year.

Waseem earned the silver medal in his category as he defeated Philippine’s boxer.

He turned pro in October last year and already has four wins, including three knockouts, on his burgeoning CV.
