PESHAWAR – Pakistani Squash star Noreena Shams who was recently in headlines for slamming a soft drink advertisement which featured Coke Studio fame Momina Mustehsan for a football ad, has clarified ‘nothing was personal against the singer.
Noreena was of the opinion that the brands should endorse real life athletes.
Shams suggested in her previous post it would have been a better idea to cast football star Asmara Kiani in the ad.
In a Facebook post on her official page, she wrote “They do not need your money but at least they deserve to be supported when it comes to representation of our country. They cannot even afford shoes or rackets. They play for the country without any greed.”
Shams makes a point. Pakistani footballer Sana Mahmud commented below, “I think there is a huge disconnect between mainstream media and Pakistani athletes.”
The post was equally highlighted both by Indian and Pakistan media.
Shams clarified in her next post that the comment was ‘nothing personal’ to anyone, neither to Momina nor to the brand. She further said she was against the trend of misplacing talent on certain places.
