MCG head curator has tips for batsmen before 2nd Test

MCG head curator has tips for batsmen before 2nd Test |

MELBOURNE – The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) head curator, David Sandurski has sent out some tips for the batsmen from both teams ahead of the second Test between Pakistan and Australia.

David stated on Friday that spending time on the wicket would be the key for batsmen in the second Test of the series between Pakistan and Australia, reported ARY Sports.

Sandurski warned that it would a tricky track and batsmen cannot just start playing shots, they have to spend some time and at least see off the first session of the day.

On this pitch, Victoria and Queensland played a Sheffield Shield game, where Queensland won the toss and toppled for just 137 runs in their first inning, and Victoria won the contest by an inning margin.

He told that the wicket has something to offer to pacers bowling with the new ball and then there will be some turn on later days of the Test.

“It’s one of those wickets that, once you get in, you should be right,” Sandurski told

“You’re going to have to fight hard early; the ball might do a bit early. But once you get through that first session, especially with the new ball, you should be right.

“Melbourne is the sort of wicket where you can’t go blasting off from ball one – you have to take your time and get used to the conditions,” he added.

As per the head curator, having spinners in the side will be helpful for the teams. “It’s still always handy to have a spinner there for that variation – Jon Holland this year, he’s taken a fair few wickets on decks that haven’t turned a great deal either,” he said. “If it was me, I’d definitely be going for a spinner.”

The second Test between the sides will commence from December 26. Australia are 1-0  up in the three-match Test series.
