BERLIN: A clip of a Muslim girl gently declining a handshake from Joachim Gauck, the German president, has gone viral.
The footage is of the last month while the German President was on a visit to Theodor Heuss School in Offenbach to appreciate the locals for getting along well with the refugees and migrants.
The President was shaking hands with students standing in a queue to give him a warm welcome while holding greeting signs in their native languages.
When the German president reached a Muslim girl wearing Hijab and offered his hand for a handshake, instead of shaking his hand the girl politely placed her hand on her heart and bowed a little showing respect.
Her response to Presidents handshake caught on camera and reached to social media websites, where people showed mixed reaction according to their background.
Nevertheless, her graceful gesture showing no sign of being rude or contempt.
