After the murder of Russia ambassador, Andrei Karlov, Russian intelligence services became active to tighten security at their embassies.
Andrei Karlov was visiting an exhibition intitled “Russia as seen by Turks”. After the visit, when he was talking to public in the gallery, the policeman shot him dead..
The 22-year-old killer, Mevlut Mert Altintas, was an Ankara policeman who killed the Russian ambassador in rage over Russia’s involvement in Aleppo, Syria.
After killing the embessdor he shouted “don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria, Allahu Akber”. 15 minutes later Mevelut was shot dead by the security.
Turkish media is claiming the shooter to have possible connection with the movement of US based cleric Fethullah Gulen.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the purpose of attack was to weaken the ties with Russia.
Both, Russian and Turkey agreed that the assassination was an act to effect the bilateral relations between the nations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the act was “undoubtedly… aimed at disrupting the normalisation” of bilateral ties and the “peace process in Syria”.
Other countries also condemned the murder, including US, UK and Germany.
