After Tameer Bank, Telenor Pakistan’s Easypaisa Ready For “Some Exciting Products” | pakistantribe.com[dropcap]I[/dropcap]SLAMABAD: Easypaisa, Pakistan’s most energetic and vibrant mobile financial service is ready for a new bang, PakistanTribe.com reported.

According to PakistanTribe’s correspondent from Islamabad, Mobile Financial Service, Easypaisa, is ready to launch “some exciting products”.

Though both, Telenor Pakistan and Tameer Microfinance Bank were in the area from long ago, after complete acquisition of Tameer Bank by Telenor a few weeks ago, the telecom operator confirming that there are many things in the pipeline.

“Easypaisa will continue making such products that support financial inclusion in Pakistan and there are some exciting products in the pipeline,” said Telenor Pakistan’s spokesperson in a written response to PakistanTribe.com’s query.

Telenor Pakistan while responding to PakistanTribe’s query said, “Telenor and Tameer Bank are the two forces behind Pakistan’s first and largest Mobile Financial Service, Easypaisa, which has been making lives easier with convenient, affordable and secure products.”

Without mentioning specific timeline for the launch of upcoming projects, Telenor Pakistan confirmed existence of such initiatives and said “will be revealed in time.”

It is worth mentioning here that Tameer Microfinance Bank and Telenor Pakistan nearly 7 years ago launched Easypaisa, the nation’s first branchless banking initiative, combining banking and mobile service together. The ambition was financial inclusion of millions of unbanked Pakistanis.

With a footprint spanning throughout the country, Telenor Pakistan has a subscriber base of over 35 million making it the second largest mobile operator in Pakistan. It has also become the first telecom operator in Pakistan to launch mobile financial services which now serves over 20 Million users every month. Telenor Pakistan has invested over US$3.1 billion in the local economy so far. It acquired GSM license in 2004 for US$ 291 million and began commercial operations on March 15, 2005.
