[dropcap]K[/dropcap]ARACHI – Federal Minister of State for Ministry of National Health Services Regulation & Coordination (NHSR&C), Saira Afzal Tarar, on Friday said poor health indicators are shameful for all and stressed the need of coordinated efforts to improve overall health situation in the country.
This she said during ambulances distribution ceremony donated by Government of China held at auditorium of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center here. Director General National Health Emergency Preparedness & Response Network Dr Munir Mangrio, Secretary Health Sindh Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, Prof Anis Bhatti and other health officials were also present on this occasion.
The Government of China has donated 80 modern life-saving ambulances to Government Pakistan out of which 20 each distributed in Punjab & Sindh province, 10 to federal government, eight each to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, five each to Azad Jammu Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan and four provided to FATA.
Saira Afzal Tarar said Government of China has donated modern life-saving ambulances of Pakistan and these ambulances will be given to areas where needed. She thanked the Chinese Government for donating ambulances to Pakistan. She informed that cost of one ambulance is 09 million and main objective of provision of ambulances to save the precious lives.
She applauded the performance of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center and other health institutions in provision of health facilities to poor people. She said GAVI mission appreciated the performance of polio workers for enhancing the routine vaccination coverage in the country.
DG HEPRN Dr. Munir Mangrio briefing about this aid and told that this is a gift from Government of China to people of Pakistan. “These are life saving ambulances and will help to save lives of poor and needy people in all provinces of country.
Secretary Health Sindh Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo said emergency response ambulances service will be launched in Thatta and Sujawal districts very soon in collaboration with Aman Foundation. He said Chinese donated ambulances will be given to area where needed most.
He informed that Sindh Government Children Hospital North Karachi will be made functional very soon under public-private partnership.
Later she handed over keys of ambulances to concerned officials. She also examined ambulances herself.
