[dropcap]M[/dropcap]UMBAI – Bans and boycotts seem to have become a trend of sorts with various political and social groups. With almost every big film that’s on the verge of release, some or the other group is ready to take offense on the film or its actors and the very recent subject of this intense criticism is Shah Rukh Khan.
The actor had already been receiving a lot of flak for his opinion on “intolerance” and to make matters worse, Raj Thackeray-led MNS recently appealed to the public to boycott Dilwale as SRK has done very little for the state (Maharashtra) where he lives and its dying farmers.
MNS issued a statement saying, “Farmers in Maharashtra, specially in Marathwada, are reeling under drought. Khan, who has been residing in the state and has made a lot of money, has not helped farmers in distress. When his help is needed, he isn’t forthcoming.
We are not seeking a ban. We are only appealing people to boycott the film. SRK is taking Maharashtra for granted.” However, King Khan had the perfect response to it the ‘Boycott Dilwale’ appeal
At a recent promotional event, when asked what he had to say about the boycott, he coolly replied, “We have made a positive film, so I am sure that people will watch it.” Well, that settles!
Directed by Rohit Shetty, Dilwale is set to hit screens this Friday, on December 18. The film also stars Kajol, varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.
