ISLAMABAD – Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah demanding joint session of parliament to debate the Rawalpindi incident has called upon Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to take politicians and parliament into confidence over the national issues, saying that the country is faced with a volatile situation.
Speaking to media persons at his chamber in the Parliament House in Islamabad on Tuesday, Syed Khursheed Shah asked the Prime Minister to come to parliament fearlessly.
He announced to submit requisition on non-summoning of immediate session of parliament by the government over the Rawalpindi incident. The contacts have started among the opposition parties over the matter.
Khursheed Shah questioned as to where were the Pakistani agencies if the Rawalpindi incident had a foreign connection. He feared that this fire would engulf the whole country and demanded urgently the joint sitting of the parliament should be summoned.
Khursheed Shah said that government’s incompetence was responsible for violence in Rawalpindi.
He said that the government should take all parties into confidence, adding that meeting of all Ulema should be summoned and they should be asked to play role for defusing tension.
He said that it was the preplanned incident or otherwise was the result of over confidence of the government. He said that the federal government should take provincial government into confidence regarding the Nato supply, adding that the matter would not be resolved by closing the supply.
He said that the high treason case against former president general (retd) Pervez Musharraf should be started from 12th October 1999, adding that Pervez Musharraf was in plane and the people responsible for imposing martial law were others.
He said that Rawalpindi violence was a well-planned conspiracy and that local administration could be also be involved in the mayhem.
He questioned as to how 200 hundred people managed to reach the Darul Ulloom and shouted slogans and fromwhere the petrol canes arms were brought there.
He demanded of the government to summon a joint session of the Parliament to hold a debate on the crucial issue.
To a question, he said that Article 6 should be applied on October 12, 1999 actions. He said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who played role for the 17th amendment in the constitution, is still in the incumbent government.
He said that Zahid Hamid, who prepared the draft for the imposition of emergency, is also in the incumbent government and as to why the government does not show its zeal and emotion in this regard.
He said that all are responsible who were involved in the consultations for the imposition of emergency, saying that cabinet is equally responsible for the imposition of emergency.
Khursheed Shah said that former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, cabinet and the then law minister Zahid Hamid would also face the consequence of November 3 actions.
The PPP leader further said that objective of FIA-led investigation in Asghar Khan Case is to give a clean chit to Nawaz Sharif and company.
