ISLAMABAD – The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has taken suo moto notice against the dumping of solid waste of the city by Capital Development Authority (CDA) in foothills of Margalla mountains and has sought report from Chairman CDA within 15 days.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took notice on press clipping of containing the story captioned as “CDA turns scenic Margalla ugly” wherein it was stated that Margalla Hills give Islamabad its image of “the beautiful” but the city managers have been caught turning it ugly.
The news story further reported that a big CDA board on the road leading to the stinking smoking site warns the public against investing in any scheme in its “preserved forest area” of the Margalla Hills National Park. That indeed mocks at the CDA’s own illegal activity.
Taking the cognizance, the court directed Chairman CDA to hold meetings with DG, Environment Protection Agency and to submit a detailed report regarding a proper long term composite solid waste management plan with an emphasize on recycling, to the extent possible and steps required to reverse the damage caused to subject site and to submit such report within two weeks.”
