NEW DELHI – A backup dancer of the recently released Bollywood film ABCD 2 Nilesh Nirbhavane has been arrested for allegedly raping a mentally challenged girl way back in May this year.
The 20-years-old dancer was arrested by the Pant Nagar police after the minor described a distinctive feature two broken front teeth of her rapist.
According to police, Nilesh Nirbhavane, who was a dancer by profession and two other accused took the 14-year-old girl to some isolated area and raped her.
The incident came to light when the victim’s girl teacher questioned her, after noticing a blunt change in her behaviour. Upon being gently questioned, the teen revealed the situation she had been going through.
The teacher then informed the girl’s parents, who then approached the Pant Nagar police.
In the complaint registered with the police on June 25, 2015, the girl revealed that three people had been raping her since May. She had named three persons as accused.
Based on this, police later picked up Nirbhavane on June 26, and he confessed to the crime.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Rathod said, “Initially, she had given the names of three accused. We took in one of them for inquiry, but investigations revealed he had no role to play in the incident”.
The accused have been booked under Sections 376D (gang rape), 377 (unnatural offences) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
While Nirbhavane has been remanded to police custody till July 4, police are still on the search for the other accused in the case.
