There is a limit to how much nourishment these branded expensive shampoos, conditioners and serums can provide to your hair but you don’t know that just like skin, the condition of your hair is an outward sign of inside health.
For really healthy looking hair you need to feed it from the inside out. If you want a naturally lustrous-looking hair, you will need to consume certain foods in your diet.
Eggs:
These contain a special vitamin called biotin. This helps in hair growth and also helps renew hair follicles, so that you get thicker hair. In fact, lack of biotin can create dry, brittle hair and eggs also help the scalp, making it one of the best hair foods.
Iron:
Iron is an especially important mineral for hair and too little iron (Anaemia) is a major cause of hair loss. The hair follicle and root are fed by a nutrient rich blood supply.
Animal products such as red meat, chicken and fish provide iron while vegetarians can raise iron by including lentils, spinach and other leafy green vegetables such as broccoli, kale and salad greens.
Vitamin E:
The sun can damage our hair just like it can damage our skin so ensure you eat foods rich in vitamin E to provide protection for your hair. Nuts are nutritional powerhouses, providing zinc and selenium as well as vitamin E so try to include them as part of a balanced diet.
Vitamin C:
This tropical fruit brims with vitamin C. It protects your hair from breaking. One cup of guava has 377 milligrams of vitamin C. That’s more than four times the minimum daily recommended amount.
Vitamin B5:
Greek yogurt also has an ingredient that helps with blood flow to your scalp and hair growth. It’s called vitamin B5 (known as pantothenic acid) and may even help against hair thinning and loss.
