SUFFOLK – Once again the popular fast food restaurant Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is in the dirty food controversy, the previous ones were about using the eight legged chicken and the fried rat but this time it is about a metal piece found in zinger burger.
Lucia Richardson felt physically sick after biting into a chicken burger from KFC and finding a chunk of metal in it.
The 29-year-old bought the Zinger Burger from the restaurant’s drive-thru in Martlesham, Suffolk, while with her brother and baby daughter.
She said: ‘I was about five bites into the burger when I suddenly bit into something hard.
‘Thinking it was a bone, I pulled it from my mouth.
‘When it had finally come out and I looked at it, I was nearly physically sick.’
“It was a piece of metal. They (KFC) were very good and took my name so they could file a report of the incident and they provided me with a new Zinger Burger,” she said, according to the UK based daily newspaper Mirror.
A KFC spokeswoman said: ‘We are very sorry for Lucia’s experience and launched an immediate investigation.
‘That has found the item is likely to be from a plastic brush used in hand-breading the chicken.
‘We have robust procedures and checks in place to prevent this from happening.’
KFC offered Lucia vouchers by way of an apology, however she says as she doesn’t eat there very often ‘they won’t benefit me greatly’.
