The British actor will first appear in Captain America: Civil War in 2016 now will work in new Spider Man movie which will be directed by Jon Watts.
“Tom Holland has officially captured the role of the web-slinging super hero Spider-Man and his teenage alter ego, Peter Parker” Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures announced on Tuesday.
Tom Holland will be third actor in nine years to play the part.
The new Spider-Man will exist within Marvel Studio’s established cinematic universe, part of a deal is announced is announced in February by Marvel, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company and Sony.
The new Spider-man movie will be released on July 28, 2017 and directed by Jon Watts. The previous hits of John Watts are included Kevin Bacon thriller Cop Car and the Eli Roth produced by horror film Clown.
Holland, along with shortlisted actors Asa Butterfield, Charlie Rowe, Judah Lewis, Matthew Lintz and Judah Lewis, was screen tested in Atlanta at the end of May.
In a statement, Marvel said: “The studios and producers were impressed by Holland’s performances in The Impossible, Wolf Hall, and the upcoming In the Heart of the Sea, and by a series of complex screen tests.”
“For Spider himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special.”
