LONDON- The High Court of Justice of England and Wales has given the ruling that allowances should be made for immigrants to slap their children as a way to discipline them.
As per the details, the judge in the Family division, Mrs. Justice Pauffley says that “many communities newly arrived” in United Kingdom slap their children for misbehavior which “at first excites the interest of child protection professionals.”
Despite of this, she stated that proper allowance should be granted for “what is, almost certainly a different cultural context”.
She made this comments while ruling on a case regarding an Indian man who was known to have beaten his wife and his kid.
She stressed that, “I do not believe there was punitively harsh treatment of [the boy] of the kind that would merit the term physical abuse.”
The couple arrived in England for six months but later they decided to stay permanently there.
It is pertinent to mention that in 2004, the Children Act rendered it illegal for parents to beat if the blows lead to bruises, swellings, cuts or scratches.
