WALES-UNITED KINGDOM- Soon the residents of Wales would lose the opportunity to puff on the e-cigarettes in restaurants, pubs, and work, as a new public health law is going to be introduced.

This ban is going to be the first ever ban to be levied on e-smoking in United Kingdom. The plan is likely to come into force in 2017 and has already invited a heated debate among the health and medical groups. It has also met the opposition from anti-smoking campaigners.

The ministers are of the view that this law would prevent children smoking, which is very likely to occur as e-cigarettes are getting common.

It is pertinent to mention that the proposals regarding the restrictions declared last year were responded by 79% opposition. The tobacco policy manager for Cancer Research UK, George Butterworth says that there is no evidence that many young people are consuming e-cigarettes, those who use them are in very small numbers.

“Those that are, are the type of people who would try alcohol or tobacco cigarettes anyway – so without that evidence we wouldn’t support a ban on the use of e-cigarettes indoors under the idea of normalization,” he further adds.

Many people are of the view that this law would create problems for those people who are trying to quit cigarettes as e-cigarettes are an opportunity for them to do so.

But it is important to be noted that this law is to be introduced in Wales only, other countries like England, Scotland and Northern Ireland do not feel the same way.

Similar restrictions have been levied in countries like Belgium, Spain and Malta, while the proposals have been made regarding the restriction in France and Ireland.
