ISLAMABAD- The Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage, Pervez Rashid has proved Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) wrong.
While talking to the media on Sunday, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) leader asserted that the rumors regarding the abolition of subsidy on wheat are baseless and wrong.
The politician having the reputation of giving harsh remarks in a polite tone has not only refuted such rumors but also speculated the reason behind these rumors. He was of the view that these rumors are being spread to gain the sympathies of common people and thus acquire votes in the Legislative Assembly Elections going to be held in Gilgit-Baltistan.
While talking about the budget announced a few days ago, he said that government has allocated Rs.6.5 billion as a subsidy in the budget.
It is to pertinent to mention that the opposition leader belonging to PPP, Khurshid Shah had given a statement that the government of PML (N) has abolished the wheat subsidy for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The opposition leader had termed this act as discrimination against the residents of the region.
He said further that the PML (N) government is people friendly and cannot take such action.
