MARYLAND, UNITED STATES- There has been a widespread notion that global warming has slowed down in past few years. The notion is refuted by researchers of United States who have stated that the notion was based on inaccurate data.
According to the scientists of National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) the updated figures show temperatures did not go flat. Rather, the rate of warming over the past 15 years is “virtually identical” to the last century.
A scientist from NOAA, Dr. Thomas Karl who has presided the new analysis, said: “We would hope that it would inform the general public that the temperature today really is continuing to warm.”
On the research, the climate scientist of University of Reading, Dr. Ed Hawkins comments that, “This suggests that the much-discussed recent slowdown in global temperatures is far less pronounced than previously thought.”
Dr. Karl termed the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s statement given two years ago, that the global surface temperature ‘has shown a much smaller increasing linear trend over the past 15 years than over the past 30 to 60 years’ as invalid.
