LAHORE- The iconin cricket player Zaheer Abbas has been named for the presidency of the international governing body of cricket.
As per the details, the governing body of Pakistan Cricket Board, (PCB) has nominated the legendary cricketer also known as the ‘Bradman’ of Asia for the presidency of International Cricket Council (ICC) following the withdrawal of candidature for the post by the head of the board executive committee, Najam Sethi.
When Sethi was the PCB chairman, Abbas was the principal advisor to him.
It is pertinent to mention here that ICC had asked PCB to nominate an ex-cricketer for the presidency last year in September. But Sethi’s name was presented instead.
Sethi was to take charge from the president of ICC at that time, Mostafa Kamal on July 1st.
Sethi also offered himself as the interim president after Kamal resigned in April. But later he withdrew from the candidature in the previous board meeting to honor the former cricketers.
