NEVADA- A memorial service was held to honor the American singer and guitarist, Riley B. King who is famously known as B.B. King. He died on 14th May 2015 in Las Vegas, and after the event held last evening his body would be moved back to his hometown Indianola, Mississippi.
The service was held as per the request of B.B King at Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church. There were around 500 people present at the time including his personal assistant Myron Johnson. King’s close friend told stories of his first meeting with the iconic singer.
The letters from Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were read aloud during the ceremony by the Mississippi Congressman Bennie Thompson. The president wrote: “There’s going to be one killer blues session in heaven tonight”. He also termed King as an inspiration to the new artists.
30th May was proclaimed as the official day of remembrance and honor for the departed singer by the Mayor of Indianola. Then the choir singing was performed in front of the late guitarist before being laid to rest.
A procession comprising thousands of fans went around city’s Beale street, paused in front of BB King’s Blues Club and then turned on to BB King Blues Highway. A huge crowd gathered in the Beale Street to pay tribute to the legendary singer.
It is pertinent here that there were claims by two of King’s heirs that two of his closest aides have poisoned him. But according to the Las Vegas police, there is no active homicide probing of the death of the blues star.
