SAN FRANCISCO – Google is aiming to give your phones and tablets a little more energy so that it can survive through the day without dying.
The company announced a new power-conservation feature in its upcoming mobile operating system Android M. Called “Doze”.
This new feature uses motion sensors to detect when a device hasn’t been moved for an extended period. For example when you are sleeping, the browser in your phone will also go into the sleep mode and won’t consume hardware resources. This, according to Google, improves the standby battery life by 2 to 3 times.
Users will still be alerted to alarms and high-priority messages even when the phone or tablet is dozing.
According to Google, testing the Nexus 9 was getting double the battery life versus the same Nexus 9 running Android Lollipop.
It is worth mentioning here that Apple has left behind Google in the brand title race but the internet giant is still struggling to gain its position back with its new launches and new features in available services.
