Tattoo May Chew Your Mental Health| PakistanTribe.comAn alarm has been rung for tattoo lovers. A new study revealed that tattoos may cause chronic diseases and skin problems.

Scientists said that growing popularity of getting tattooed can cause serious behavioural change because of skin and psychological disturbances.

Experts claimed that getting tattooed, causes many people to suffer long term skin issues, may be a cause of permanent pain and enduring emotional distress.

Some cases are so worst, that they cause scar tissues build up or nasty skin scratches, which can only be remove by proper surgical treatment.

Some tattooed people reported that health effects were so bad that they required laser surgery or a course of steroid to resolve the issues.

Doctor Maria Leger, assistant professor at the New York University Department of Dermatology, surveyed 300 tattooed adults.

She said: “Given the growing popularity of tattoos, physicians, public health officials, and consumers need to be aware of the risks involved.”

“The skin is a highly immune-sensitive organ, and the long-term consequences of repeatedly testing the body’s immune system with injected dyes and colored inks are poorly understood.”

She explained that short term complications may occur in up to 10% of the people who took part in survey, who experienced “delayed healing, pain, swelling, and infection within weeks of getting tattooed.”

Long term health effects also occurred in skin regions where black and red ink was injected, these colors are commonly used colors.

Approximately 44% of long term reactions happened when red ink was injected in tattoo.

Dr. Leger added: “we were rather alarmed at the high rate of reported chronic complications tied to getting a tattoo.”
