MUMBAI – Imran Abbas, known for its Pakistani TV serials, is back with another Bollywood film “Jaanisaar” after the Bollywood film “Creature 3D” on silver screen.
The actor will play the role of a prince in the movie, which is set in the background of Lucknow in 1877. The film also marks the acting debut of stylist and costume designer Pernia Qureshi.
“My role is of a prince. He basically belongs to India but has been brought up in Britain. He is sent back to Lucknow again after becoming a proper British man. Then he falls in love with this girl (Noor played by Pernia), who is a courtesan,” the 32-year-old said.
According to Abbas, the best thing about his latest movie is that it’s different from the commercial Bollywood offerings these days. “The movie had international crew as people from Hollywood and Italy were part of the film.
“Filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, who gave Indian cinema the cult classic “Umrao Jaan” three decades ago, has a strong vision regarding all facets of the film, from the music to the script to set design, which makes Jaanisaar a complete package,” abbas said.
Besides Imran and Pernia, “Jaanisaar” also stars Dalip Tahil and Abid Yunus Khan. A release date is yet to be finalised for the film.
