TEHRAN – After a high rate of divorces in Iran, authorities in Iran have launched an official internet dating website for young people seeking marriage.
Around 22% of marriages among Iranians end in divorce while the rate of divorce is Tehran is so high.
And most of the couples are under 30, that age group which makes up most of the Iran’s population.
Earlier, while announcing the plan, Mahmoud Golrazi, the deputy minister for Sports and Youth Affairs said that he hoped this new site would make “100,000 marriages” and can solve the problems of marriage amongst young people.
The new site is named as hamsan.tebyan.net and an institution, Islamic Development Organization which is under the supervision of Supreme Leader is running this site.
This organization actually promotes the Islamic lifestyle.
It is important to mention here that Hamsan.tebyan.net is run by about 100 people and it is currently only operational in Tehran but there are plans to expand to other Iranian cities.
Users searching for true love on this site will be asked to enter basic details, such as height and weight, but also parents’ occupation and marital status and candidates cannot view other users’ profiles or even photos of potential matches.
Once an online match is found, both parties are invited to an initial face-to-face meeting, which takes place under the supervision of a cleric in a “safe atmosphere”, like their office.
