JEDDAH-Saudi Arab would soon make it mandatory for all pilgrims to wear e-bracelet. According to a Gulf newspaper, Al Arabiya, ministries of Hajj and of interior have completed the preliminary study to introduce the scheme.
The bracelet would contain a Global Positioning System (GPS) and is featured as water proof. It has a bar code in which the information regarding its wearer i.e. the pilgrim would be stored.
This information would comprise of the address of the residence of the individual in Saudi Arabia and also his or her medical record. By scanning the bar code, ministry would be able to acquire the desired information.
There would be a prayer time alert and also a compass which would help the pilgrim in performing the rituals of Hajj or Umrah by pointing towards the exact location where he or she should stand.
There would be a contact number of the desk, which would provide the information regarding the streets on Makkah in all available languages.
The launch of this bracelet would be considered as revolution in technology and it would speed up the process of collecting statistics of pilgrims.
