ISLAMABAD – There was an air of happiness among them when they were termed as the 3rd most attractive men and the nation which stands on 4th rank when their IQ level is to be judged. But it would be a disappointment for them to know that they are not very efficient if human capital is to be considered.
World’s Economic Forum has issued a global competitiveness report, in which the human capital of different countries has been compared. According to this report, Pakistan stands 113th out of 124 nations.
The major reason which can be identified in this regard is that Pakistan’s Department of Education is always begging attention of the authorities if the resource allocation is concerned. Only 2% of the resource pool is allocated to this department while the experts assert on allocating the 4% of GNP (Gross National Product).
Furthermore, 25 million school going children do not go to school due to poverty and having no access to schools.
An educationalist Dr. A.H Nayyar, while talking to the media, agreed with World’s Economic Forum’s report. He said that unless governments put their maximum efforts in obliging the educational rights of citizens, there can be no improvement in the situation.
