ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Railway is all set to start “Green Line” passenger train from Islamabad to Karachi as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the new train on May 15, 2015, PakistanTribe.com reported.
According to the PakistanTribe’s (PT) correspondent from Islamabad, the security arrangements have been finalized for the inauguration ceremony.
Official sources from federal administration told PT, that different institutions near to the Margalla railway station will remain closed on Friday due to security arrangements.
Green Line Train is no more an ordinary train as it will be completely Air-conditioned with Wi-Fi Internet facility throughout the journey and also providing newspapers and three time meal to the passengers.
“The locomotive engines and business coaches that had been imported from China in the past will be used for the Green Line. It was not very costly to launch this service, since we just had to renovate the coaches we already had,” Railways division officer Muhammad Nasir told the media.
The train will leave Karachi’s Cantt Station at 9:30am every morning, reaching Margalla Station in Islamabad at 8:45am the next morning. Meanwhile, another train will leave Islamabad at 3:15am daily, arriving in Karachi at 2:30am the next night.
The train coming from Karachi to Islamabad will make stops at Hyderabad, Rohri, Khanewal, Lahore and Rawalpindi on its way.
Two trains will be used for the service, with tickets costing Rs.5000 per passenger.
