Obama Ask Saudi King About Yemen Situation | PakistanTribe.comWASHINGTON: President Barack Obama spoke by telephone with Saudi King Salman on Friday to discuss developments in Yemen, the White House said in a statement.

It said Obama and King Salman agreed that a negotiated political solution was necessary to achieving lasting stability in Yemen.

Obama reaffirmed the strong friendship between the United States and Saudi Arabia and underscored their commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security.

President Obama and King Salman discussed the recent adoption of a resolution on Yemen in the United Nations Security Council and next steps in the effort to resume the political transition in Yemen, including talks facilitated by the United Nations.

Both agreed that their collective goal is to achieve lasting stability in Yemen through a negotiated political solution facilitated by the United Nations and involving all parties as envisioned in the GCC Initiative.

President and King Salman also discussed the importance of responding to the humanitarian needs of the Yemeni people.

Obama also underscored the US commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security, the White House said.
