ISLAMABAD – Enthusiastic and passionate about an opportunity to expose to and take on the challenging filed of marketing and business, the students of Master in Business Administration (MBA), Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) and Master in Science and Business Administration (MSBA) set a cornerstone of their future professional lives at 8th NUML Sale’s Gala.
The 8th NUML Sale’s Gala was arranged by the Department of Management Sciences (MS) of National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, at SerenaHotel, Islamabad, today.
One of the unique features of the gala was the “Idea Marking Competition” in which students of BBA were tasked to come up with some creative and inspiring ideas to promote and highlight social and cultural issues in a way that public stands educated. Pakistani and Afghan students of the university were praised for highlighting issues including Plantation of Afghanistan, No Smoking- Start Living, Protest but Peacefully, Stop toy guns, Hygiene, Helping Hands, Respect Mother, and Patience through a very touching and artistic art work.
The event was attended by Ajmal Baloch, President All Pakistan Trade Unions, Director General (DG) Dr Shahnaz A. Riaz, Rector NUML Maj Gen (R) Masood Hasan, DG Brig Azam Jamal, Directors, Deans, Heads, faculty members of the university, representatives od Rawalpindi, Islamabad Chambers of Commerce and corporations, political personalities, and a big number of students and their parents.
Speaking at the occasion Ajmal Baloch said “Don’t keep your wealth, riches, knowledge and skills to yourself. The best marketing tip is to share them with others and God will help you getting them multiplied”.
Rector NUML Maj Gen (R) Masood Hasan speaking at the occasion, said initiative of “Idea Marketing” is an impressive and worth appreciating attempt but such ideas are of no use until we follow them in letter and spirit. He said that student with their ideas and skills can be of great service to the community and when one good idea is implemented and followed, others rush to follow and adopt, he added.
A total of fifty (50) different stalls were displayed in the hall of the hotel. Different products were arranged and displayed while keeping not only business and marketing discipline but there was also an aesthetic sense in their exhibit to attract customers. Students from MS displayed stalls of the products including dresses, cloths, shawls, stuffed toys, paintings, calligraphy, perfumes, handicrafts, jewelry, shoes, decoration pieces, and other electronic appliances in the gala and sold them like hot cakes.
Fahad Muqadas, chief organizer of the gala, said 8th NUML’s Sales Gala is a blend of theoretical learning and practical experience of business, managerial, marketing and entrepreneurial skills. It prepares and leads students towards a professional life that involves entrepreneurial challenges.
A student of Management Sciences, Rabia Ejaz told the scribe that first it was really appreciating that management have set a unique tradition of holding sales gala as they set a stage for the professional life of the students. It motivates the students for market research, and teaches them event management, customer handling, face to face dealing, communication skills and customer service. As a result of this field training, students are hired by top notched business companies and syndicates as soon as they pass out from the university, she added.
Rector NUML Maj Gen (Retd) Masood Hasan, Director General (DG) Brig Azam Jamal, Dean Management Sciences and heads of different departments of the varsity also visited the stalls and appreciated the students for their motivation and dedication for their academic and professional skills. A big number of people from twin cities also visited the Gala.
