Japan’s Royal Couple Visited The War Memorial

Japan's royal couple visited the war memorial | Pakistan Tribe.comJapan’s Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko visited the Pacific island nation of Palau on 8 and 9 April at the 70 anniversary of the end of World War II.

This year Japan is commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. At the occasion royal couple laid flowers at a memorial set up in Palau and pays tribute to the Japanese victims of war and prays for them.

In 1944, the two-month-long war, near 10 thousand Japanese soldiers died following the orders Emperor Akihito’s father who was the then Emperor of Japan.

70 years after the war, the event was organized to give honors to the families of the dead.

Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko first time visited to the country. Purpose of the visit is to strengthen mutual friendship between the two countries.

At their arrival on the airport the royal couple attended a welcome ceremony at the airport. Then Palau’s President Tommy Remengesau and his wife meet the couple.
