RAWALPINDI/WAH – Increasing defense expenditures and Pakistan Army’s engagement in military operations on western frontier areas of Pakistan are the matter of great concern for Pakistan Army as General Raheel Sharif emphasizes the self-reliance in the field of defense production.
Raheel Sharif believes that Pakistan should not be fully dependent on other countries to meet its defense needs but it should be capable to manufacture weapon within the country.
Media wing of Pakistan Army, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a press release about visit of Army chief at Pakistan Ordinance Factory (POF) Wah where Raheel Sharif was given briefing about the performance of factory.
Raheel Sharif admired the efforts of POF Wah and said that the contribution of Wah Factory to fulfill Pakistan Army’s ammunition needs in operation Zarb e Azb is appreciable.
Press release states that Raheel Sharif said “POF is the premier defense industry of Pakistan making invaluable contributions to sustain combat worthiness of Pakistan Armed Forces.”
Army Chief was also told about the manufacturing capabilities of the factory and plans for expansion in factory chain. Raheel Sharif emphasized the need for technological up-gradation to meet the needs of Army in changing nature of war.
