MITHI – Five more children died of malnutrition in drought-hit Tharparkar. Due to lack of medical facilities the death toll during current year has reached to 164.
According to details, five more children have lost their lives due to malnutrition and lack of medical facilities in the civil hospital of Mithi, a district of Tharparkar. Three-days-old Abdul Razzaq, four-months-old Mohammad Hussain, six-days-old Zubaida and one infant passed away while 46 children are undergoing treatment in the civil hospital.
Despite many promises made by the federal and provincial governments, the people of the area have got nothing and their condition has worsened with each passing day due to which the death toll has reached to 164.
The Thar Desert begins around 300 kilometers (200 miles) from Karachi and runs up to the border with India, where it joins the Rajasthan desert.
