Under the supervision of chief election commissioner retired Justice Sardar Mohammad Reza, full bench of the EC establish the hearing of a petition filed by Akbar S Babar, the founding member and former secretary of the PTI.
The applicant accused the party over financial irregularities and over the violation of laws in the funds coming from abroad.
The bench has directed the Election Commission officials to examine new financial documents regarding the funding of PTI from America.
PTI claims that they have submitted all the funding details contained in the audit report to EC.
However, the bench observed that the audit report submitted by PTI’s lawyer was unable to provide details regarding international funding.
PTI lawyer argue that questions can be raised after the acceptance of audit report from ECP.
Chief Election Commissioner said that proof of funds from abroad have been provided to PTI, after that the Commission has the right to reexamine their audit report.
Justice Reza then warned the PTI lawyer that the matter is sensitive and that nest time he should remain cautious about giving arguments.
During the hearing, the commission member from Balochistan Justice Fazl ur Rehman brief about the provisions to submit details regarding the of foreign funds of political parties.
Due to the serious accusations Chief Election Commissioner asked the PTI lawyer to submit the details regarding the foreign finding and also to submit the sources of funding as well.
The case was adjourned to May 6.
