Man Are Not Allowed In ‘Pink Rickshaws’ | PakistanTribe.comLahore-In the provincial capital of Punjab, Lahore, Pink rickshaws have been started that are driven by women and only women can travel by them, PakistanTribe.com.

According to the details, men are not allowed to travel in these rickshaws.

Zara Aslam, who has introduced this unique initiative, said that this is one of a kind service that is only to be used by women. 25 such Rickshaws have already been out in Lahore and their numbers are likely to be increased.

She said that this service was launched with the intention of providing women from the lower social strata of society an opportunity to travel in comfort and at the same time giving them financial independence.

Also, women are openly harassed while travelling in other local transport and that’s why most women are hesitant to travel in local transport.

This initiative will help women who have to travel for educational or other purposes. Also, this will help increase the job opportunities for females and provide safe travel for them.

Women who want to drive Pink Rickshaws are first interviewed and then selected candidates are given training for about 15-30 days.

Zare also stated that we will hold a meeting with female drivers every month to know about the difficulties they face during traveling.
