PESHAWAR – In a search operation in different parts of Peshawar city, police detained several suspects earlier on Thursday, PakistanTribe reported.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) told media that the operation was launched following the suspicious movements in the area. Main focus of operation was the surroundings of Army Public School (APS) which has already been attacked on December 16 by militants.
21 were arrested in Bihari Colony whereas dozens were detained from other parts of the city.
Police has not yet told about the arrest of any militant however it was told that the arrested people were involved in some suspicious activities, directly or indirectly.
“Illegally residing Afghan national were also arrested during the search operation,” told an official. “They were clearly told to evacuate the area.”
The official further told that “the operation was launched at 6:30 am in morning and police of different police stations was thoroughly searching the area.” He added that “Elite force also participated in the operation.”
Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) and search operations are the part of National Action Plan (NAP) launched after the deadly attack on APS last year in December. All the political parties had developed a consensus to launched operation against militants hiding in the country.
In the last briefing of Director General Inter Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) in General Head Quarter (GHQ) Rawalpindi, it was openly announced that Pakistan Army will not tolerate any terrorist activity in the country and no party or group will be given free hands to play with people’s lives and property.
