ISLAMABAD – Following the furnace oil price adjustment, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) decreases in electricity rates for K-Electric consumers up-to Rs2.08 per unit and more or less same for other companies, PakistanTribe reported.
Companies received Rs 13 billion in fuel adjustment which will be passed on to consumers. Rs 1 billion would be adjusted with K-Electric and 12 billion for others. The relief will be given in the bills of April and also those who consume more than 50 units a month will be given this concession.
Pakistan is one of those countries where electricity is produced by furnace oil mainly, the change in furnace oil prices directly effects the prices of electricity.
Pakistani government has also imported natural gas for the production of electricity and to meet the other energy needs of the country.
Despite all the government’s claims, people of Pakistan are suffering due to the increasing load-shedding. It is no more a ‘Good News’ for Pakistani people that the electricity rates have decreased as it was witnessed in the last couple of years that people suffer due to Gas and Electricity load-shedding.
Federal Minister for water and Power Khawaja Asif has claimed that Pakistan will completely overcome the power crises in the coming three years.
