PESHAWAR – Outlawed movement Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) officially claimed the responsibility of Colonel Tahir’s murder who was shot down last night when he was coming out of Masjid in Hayatabad Area of Peshawar, PakistanTribe reported.
It was doubted that some one may have shot Colonel Tahir for personal cause but the open confess of TTP about killing made it clear that it was a backlash of Pakistan Army’s ground and Airstrikes in Tirah valley in the recent past.
Change in TTP leadership and merger of outlawed movements, Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) and TTP Mullah Fazalullah group, have gave a new energy to the movement but the activities could not spread its circle beyond Peshawar.
Colonel Tahir could not rescued to hospital as he had sustained bullets which resulted his immediate death.
Pakistan has lost many lives in war against terrorism. According to a report titled “Body Count: Casualty Figures after 10 Years of the War on Terror” was released by the Nobel Prize-winning International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War along with Physicians for Social Responsibility and Physicians for Global Survival more than 80,000 Pakistanis, including over 48,000 civilians, have been killed in the decade-long US-led war against terror in the country.
However the decision of Pakistan Army to launch operations against militant groups have broken the backbone of militants. Pakistan Army claims to have cleared more than 90 percent Area of FATA and determined to kick the terrorists out of Pakistan in next couple of months.
