The Urs is organized by Punjab’s Department of Religious Affairs. The ceremonies will continue to take placetill Tuesday.
According to details, Officials of the Auqaf Department and office bearers of darbar inaugurated the celebrations by laying a traditional ‘chadar’ on the grave of great sufi saint.
Director Finance Zarif Satti, Zonal Administrator Abdul Sattar, Chairman Committee for Religious Affairs Mian Basharat, Manager Awqaf Mumtaz Ahmed and a large number of devotees and followers participated in the event.
According to media reports, the Awqaf Department had reserved a grant of Rs 4.5 lakh for the event. The celebratory event provides opportunities to several street vendors to set up temporary shops selling eatables outside the shrine.
Swings have also been installed inside the shrine’s vicinity. The surroundings are presenting a picture of festival mainly because of the holiday.
The pilgrims danced on the drum beat in the traditional Sufi manner on the opening day of the Urs.
Mehfil-e-Samaa and Mehfil-e-Naat will be held in which noted Qawwals and Naat Khawans will participate.
