Pakistani court stops censor board to issue certificates to Indian movies | PakistanTribeLAHORE – While hearing the petition of a Current Affair show anchor, Pakistani Court has given an order to the Central Censor Board (CCB) to stop issuing certificates to the Indian films.

A plea has been registered in the Lahore High Court (LHC) to challenge illegal exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan

Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan was hearing the petitions filed by Mubashir Lucman, an anchor person.

Earlier, the petitioner’s counsel presented a copy of deal agreed between Pakistan Film Producers Association and Cinema Owners Association.

As per agreement, fifty percent cinemas would exhibit Pakistani films and its income would be utilized for welfare of cinema industry workers, the counsel added.

He further said that both associations also agreed to take strict action against illegal exhibition of Indian films.

He pleaded the court to allow for withdrawal the petitions in light of the said agreement.

Indian movies and celebrities are very popular in Pakistan, Google Trends of Pakistan for the year 2013 include 5 out of 10 Indian celebs searched over the year.
