These military drills of Pak-U.S. forces will include a wide range of military components, including air, land, sea and special operations. Official documents states that both forces will have planned more than 100 joint exercises and other engagements.
According to the policy documents, these exercises include counter-terrorism, counterinsurgency, civil-military cooperation, intelligence.
Pakistani and U.S. military representatives gathered earlier this month for the 24th Pak-U.S. Military Consultative Committee (MCC).
Maj. Gen. Steven Busby, U.S. Central Command’s director of strategy, was the U.S. representative at the MCC. On the other side, Rear Adm. Ahmed Saeed, director general of the Pakistan military’s joint war-fighting and training, represented Pakistan.
The MCC is an annual forum for reviewing the military-to-military engagements and exercises that Pakistan and the U.S. have ongoing and are planning for the future.
