Facebook launches another amazing feature that might invoke sadness for some people. The feature named as ‘On This DAY’, takes you in the past where you look back and find out who you were years ago on a given date,PakikstanTribe.com reported.
The feature comes in the form of news feed having your past status updates, Pictures, and stuff you were tagged in on that date.
It is quite similar to TimeHop that allows you to login through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Dropbpox, iphoto to pucker a collection of your activities across various social networks. It more likes keeping a record and allowing you to open the window of the past and visit it.
This feature grants you total privacy and it’s up to you whether you chose to share it with friends or just make it visible for you. Moreover, you will have an option to edit and delete any posts from the feed if you want to.
Also, you can turn the notifications on to watch out any new update.
More to the point, sensitive and highly private information such as posts or pictures, or past relationships that exists no more will be filtered out by the feed.
Facebook has had faced similar issues in the past also, for instance, the feature Year In Review uncovered excruciating memoirs of lost love or broken friendships for users.
So, it is not surprising that the company is taking into consideration all the necessary cautions and measures so that On This Day should not turn out to be a heart wrenching experience for the users.
This feature was first trialed on a very small scale in year 2013. However, the feature will officially be accessible for everyone worldwide over a next week.
Once it is available, people will be able to journey through their past via Facebook Search, notifications, iOS and Android, the bookmark in the Facebook web sidebar, or the direct link.
