ISLAMABAD – Telenor Pakistan has successfully completed the installation of Biometric Verification System (BVS) for activation of SIMs at all of its Sales & Service Centers and Franchises across Pakistan. It has installed BVS at 328 point of sales, ensuring that all of its Sales & Service Centers and Franchises in the country are BVS compliant.
Telenor Pakistan’s staff along with channel partners was trained on the new system to ensure seamless transition to meet customer demands. Moreover, in order to facilitate consumers, special SIM sale counters for BVS have been setup alongside placement of informative posters, standees and handing out of brochures.
Commenting on this development, Muhammad Aslam Hayat, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Telenor Pakistan expressed satisfaction and said, “We are pleased to announce that we have completed the installation of Biometric Verification Systems at all our Sales & Service Centers and Franchises in the country to ensure higher accuracy of subscriber data. We are once again extremely grateful to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Ministry of Information and Technology, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Ministry of Interior for facilitating this process. We are diligently working on the 3rdphase, whereby installation of BVS at all Telenor Sahulat Ghars, will be completed by July 2014.”
It is pertinent to note here that Telenor Pakistan has already been selling SIMs through BVS at all of its Sales & Service Centers and Franchises in Karachi since December 01, 2013. Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Yaseen Anwar, in his recent visit to a Telenor Pakistan’s Sales & Service Center congratulated and appreciated the company for the successful deployment of BVS across all of its sales outlets in Karachi for GSM SIM selling. He also appreciated the idea of using BVS, for opening Branchless Banking accounts and believes Biometric Verification will contribute to Central Bank’s vision of increasing financial inclusion in the country.
