According to the details, he scored 237 runs and remained unbeatable against West Indies.
His innings were graced with 11 sixes and 24 fours. He completed double century on 152 balls.
Martin Guptill has become the first New Zealand player to hit a double century in ODIs. He accomplished this in the fourth quarter-final of World Cup 2015 against West Indies on Saturday. He has become the second player to hit a World Cup double ton after Chris Gayle scored 215 vs Zimbabwe earlier in the tournament. The right-hander became the fifth player to score 200 in this format .
Guptill is now the only cricketer to have scored more than 150 in a World Cup knockout match. He is also the only player to have two scores in excess of 150 in ODIs. His previous best was 189 against England in 2013.
The innings however did not start with so much aggression. Guptill came out to start the innings after Brendon McCullum chose to bat. However, the skipper fell in the fifth over with West Indies getting the early breakthrough courtesy Jason Holder’s running catch off Jerome Taylor.
Guptill played really well in the 4th Quarter final of ODI 2015 against West Indies and achieved this milestone in the history of the ODCs.
