ISLAMABAD – Abdul Ghafoor Haideri – the deputy chairman of senate – has not yet resigned from his party chairmanship violating the parliament traditions, PakistanTribe reported.
According to details, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri – Secretary General Jamiat Ulema Islam – was elected a deputy chairman of Senate but he still holds the party designation.
Senator Raza Rabbani had left his designation immediate after taking the charge of senate chairmanship.
Sources say that Jamiat Ulemae Islam has yet not decided about the new secretory General of party however the matter is under consideration.
Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri had taken the oath as Deputy Chairman Senate a week ago.
Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri had teken 74 votes and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Shibli Faraz got 16 votes although the number of senators belonging to PTI were only eight.
Veteran politician, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri is from Balochistan province. He holds the important portfolio of Chairman Standing Committee on Railways. He is also a member of several Standing Committees including Communications and Postal Services, Foreign Affairs and Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Water and Power.
