KARACHI – Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad says that he is not afraid of reopening the Saulat Mirza’s case as he believes he is totally out of the ‘game’, PakistanTribe reported.
Ishratul Ebad says the news related to his resignation from governorship are baseless. “I am not afraid of Mirza’s statement recorded in death cell as i am not involved in the game,” the governor said.
He further denied the news about supporting criminals in jails and said that this is just a conspiracy against him and his party. ‘Criminals give such misguiding statements to avoid their punishment’ the governor said.
Ishratul Ebad was expected to resign following the allegation on him. Televised media had reported that the governor will resign in the next 24 hours quoting the information leaked by his confidants.
The news circulated after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar called the governor early Thursday morning.
“The federal government has given him Ebad a clear message to tender his resignation. Otherwise, they will remove him from the post forcefully,” quoted an English daily of Pakistan.
However Ishratul Ebad, while speaking to a local Television denied reports of resigning. “Neither me nor the MQM wants me to resign,” he said. “There is no pressure on me [to resign]. I am doing my job.”
