Lahore: The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF) has expressed immense grief and sorrow over the devastating suicide bomb attacks against the the Christian community in Youhanabad, Lahore.
Michelle Chaudhry President of The Cecil & Iris Chaudhry Foundation (CICF) stated, “We are heartbroken and very angry; the memory of the Peshawar Church attacks is still fresh in our minds and here we are once again preparing for mass burial. This is beyond condemnation.”
“It is the responsibility of both the Federal and the Provincial Governments to protect all citizens regardless of their religion; religious minority communities and their places of worship across Pakistan must be safeguarded; it is about time the Government of Pakistan took concrete measures to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) in order to curb the increasing number of terrorist attacks within the country,” she stated further adding, “We demand accountability; Impunity around violence against religious minorities in Pakistan has to end, we cannot allow this to go on.”
The CICF calls upon the government to implement with immediate effect the 19th June 2014 Supreme Court verdict, issued by former Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, the 32-page historic judgment, issued a set of guidelines for the government; promoting religious and social tolerance and the protection of religious minorities in Pakistan.
