RIYADH/WASHINGTON DC – US Embassy and consulates shuts down its functions in Saudi Arabia for two days following the security threats, PakistanTribe received international media reports.
US Embassy has been shut down in Riyadh due to security reasons. In official instructions issue by US embassy in Kingdom it was informed that the counselor services will remain closed in the capital of Riyadh, Jeddah and Zehran for two days.
They further advised the American citizen residing in the country to stay alert and not to travel around unnecessarily.
Two days ago, they warned that the terrorist might attack western workers working in oil industry. Though, details regarding such attacks had not been provided.
Kingdom is facing serious security issues due to presence of ISIS in the region. In a report published by Global Defence Trade of IHA Jane 360, it was reported that the Saudi Arabia has became the world’s biggest weapon importer of 2014.
It was further said that the kingdom spent over $6.4 billion on defense purchases in 2014, dislodging India from top spot. India’s spending stood at $5.57 billion, placing it second.
Saudi Arabian imports increased by 54% over the past year and the study predicts that one out of every seven dollars spent on defence exports in 2015 will be spent by the Middle East kingdom.
