KARACHI – Pakistan’s largest city Karachi once again facing uncertainty as paramilitary force Rangers has conducted targeted operation at Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters NineZero on Wednesday morning, PakistanTribe.com reported.
According to the PakistanTribe (PT) correspondent from Karachi, during the raid senior Rabita (coordination) Committee member Amir Khan, including several party workers have been arrested.
“Pakistan Rangers Sindh has conducted a series of targeted raids at surrounding areas of MQM headquarters 90 including Khursheed Memorial Hall today,” paramilitary force statement further said “during the above mentioned action many hardcore criminals have been arrested.”
“Faisal Mota (involved in murder of Wali Khan Babur and convicted and sentenced to death by court), Farhan Shabbir @ Mullah, Amir, Nadir (convicted and sentenced 13 years), Ubaid K 2 have been detained during the raid.”
The Rangers seized large cache of arms and detained workers. An office bearer, Waqas Ali Shah, was killed during the raid and a cameraman injured during firing.
Due to the law and order situation in city, schools were closed down and examinations postponed as citizens feared violence soon after the incident took place.
Pakistani social media users also reacted over the situation as micro-blogging website Twitter became the battle-field for political rivals.
