ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Raza Rabbani has said that being Chairman of the Upper House he will work hard to further strengthen political and democratic traditions.
Talking to the media in Islamabad on Tuesday after his nomination, he said he will work as a neutral man in the house and ensure supremacy of the law and rules of procedures of the Senate to ensure impartiality.
He said all political parties are equal before him and he will work to activate legislative work which is prime responsibility of the parliament.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Chairman Imran Khan says that Raza Rabbani holds a good reputation but it turn to see his performance now.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif forged consensus on Pakistan Peoples Party’s proposed candidate Senator Raza Rabbani for the Senate’s top slot.
“Raza Rabbani is more than acceptable to us as proposed by the PPP,” the premier said, while addressing a lunch of heads of all political parties at the PM House.
Claiming that his ruling party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, wants all parties to work together, Prime Minister Nawaz said, “We want the new Senate chairman to be appointed through a consensus of all political parties.”
He said that the time of disclosing the poll rigging of 2013 election has come and public will see what these political parties had done to their mandate.
Imran Khan also talked about the tribunal commission which is still not established by ruling party. He said that the only reason for delaying in establishing the tribunal commission is poll fraud of PML-N.
