GAPYEONG – Thousands of Moon followers, who love to be called Moonie, after the name of their religious leader Sun Myung Moon, tied in a relation of marriage at the South Korean headquarters of the Unification Church, PakistanTribe received international media reports.
It was that third event since the death of Sun Myung Moon, in 2012, their self-proclaimed messiah and church founder.
Many of the couples had just met some days before but they participated in the event. The ceremony in the past used to be preside by Moon but now his widow of 72 presided over the ceremony.
Moon was famous for Mass-marriage of his followers in Korea and many youngster still love him as their religious messiah.
Nearly 3,800 couples participated in the ceremony in Gapyeong, east of the capital, Seoul.
Moon was a Korean religious leader, businessperson, political activist, and media mogul. A self-proclaimed messiah, he was the founder of the Unification Church, and of its widely noted “Blessing” or mass wedding ceremony, and the author of its unique theology the Divine Principle. Moon was active in conservative politics and courted world leaders.
